For your convenience, try to make Windows 8 as usable as you can: use the desktop as often as you can and clean off your start screen and pin the desktop apps that you actually use on the front. That way you don't have to operate Windows 8. Two that numerous other users have mentioned I haven't tried them are "classic shell" and "Start8". I have no problem using anything new in Windows 8 or 8.
